Braised sauerkraut

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg sauerkraut
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup of sweet cream
  • ¼ liter white wine (Riesling)
  • 1 tbsp paprika powder, sweet
  • 2 chili peppers

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Finely chop the onion and garlic, remove the seeds from the chili and chop them finely – very important. Squeeze the sauerkraut. Sauté the onion and garlic in butter, add the paprika, and mix well. Then stir in the chili, tear the sauerkraut into small pieces, and add it. Deglaze with the cream and white wine. Simmer for 40 minutes over medium heat with the lid closed. Then season with freshly ground pepper, a little salt, and butter. Add a little more liquid (cream or wine) if desired.
