Potatoes in cheese sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 30 g butter
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • ½ liter of milk
  • 150 g cheese, e.g. B. Cheddar or Gruyere
  • 4 tbsp sour cream
  • 2 tomatoes
  • salt and pepper
  • nutmeg
  • Paprika powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Boil potatoes (either in their jacket potatoes –> then peel and cut into bite-sized pieces, or boil them). Peel and dice the onion, and sauté in the margarine for about 5 minutes until light yellow. Add the flour all at once and sweat for 1 minute. Stir in the milk and cook for 5 minutes. Add the cheese and let it melt. Peel and dice the tomatoes, and add them to the sauce along with the sour cream. Season with salt, pepper, nutmeg, and paprika. Heat for another 2 minutes, then pour over the potatoes. This potato dish is suitable as a side dish for meat eaters or as a main course with leaf salad.
