Potato gratin made from raw potatoes

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 200 g cheese, grated (medium-aged Gouda)
  • ½ liter sweet cream
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius (400 degrees Fahrenheit). Peel the potatoes and slice them thinly using a cucumber slicer. Butter a baking dish and layer the potatoes in the dish. Lightly season each layer with salt and pepper and sprinkle with cheese, including the last layer. Pour the cream over the potatoes, making sure they’re just barely covered. Bake the gratin for 60-70 minutes. Check after 50 minutes if it’s getting too brown; cover with aluminum foil if necessary. This recipe is easy to adapt with onions, leeks, or herbs, but the original recipe is best.
