Kohlrabi and carrot casserole

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 700 g kohlrabi with the green
  • 500 g carrot(s) (as thick as possible)
  • 200 ml cream
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • nutmeg
  • 100 ml milk

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Peel and quarter the kohlrabi, then cut into 0.5cm-thick slices. Peel the carrots and slice them to the same thickness. Layer both in a casserole dish and whisk together the milk, cream, and eggs, then season with pepper, salt, and nutmeg. Pour the egg wash over the vegetables and bake in the oven at 180°C for about 40 minutes. Chop the kohlrabi greens and sprinkle them over the casserole before serving. Serve with pork fillet, beef fillet, or simply smoked trout fillets.
