Prepare the potatoes as you would for a salad. Hard-boil the eggs, peel them, and slice them. Dice the tomatoes (without cores), cut the cauliflower into small florets, cook them in lightly salted water, and then let them cool. Add 1 grated onion, oil, a little vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of mustard to the cooled cauliflower florets, and season again with salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar. Now add the diced potatoes, diced tomatoes, egg slices, and finely sliced, well-washed lettuce to the mixture. Let everything marinate for about 4 hours. For the skewers, alternate the sliced salami, onion, and gherkin on shish kebab skewers, sprinkle with a little paprika, and fry in oil until crispy. Instead of shish kebab, roasted spare ribs, bratwurst, Vienna sausages/bockwurst, or even fried or scrambled eggs all go well with this colorful potato salad.
