Burger with fried onions and caramelized bacon

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 1 m.-sized onion(s), in rings
  • n. B. Flour
  • Rapeseed oil for frying
  • 8 slices of bacon
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 2 burger buns
  • 240 g minced beef
  • 2 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 2 handfuls of arugula
  • 1 medium-sized tomato(s), sliced
  • Cucumber(s), 6 slices
  • e.g. salt and pepper
  • e.g. cayenne pepper
  • 2 tsp mustard
  • 2 tsp ketchup
  • 2 tsp mayonnaise

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Coat the onion rings in flour and fry in rapeseed oil. Place on kitchen paper and season with salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper. Fry the bacon with the sugar in a non-stick pan until very crispy. Place the bacon strips on kitchen paper as well. Fry the sliced ​​burger buns, cut-side down, in the bacon fat. Form the ground beef into patties and fry on both sides, either well done or medium-rare, depending on your taste. Season with salt and pepper while frying. Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each burger and add a splash of water to the pan. Briefly place a lid (preferably a glass lid) on top to melt the cheese. Cover the underside of the buns with mustard, mayonnaise, cucumbers, tomatoes, arugula, and bacon. Then place the patty and onions on top. Finally, spread ketchup on the top half of the bun and place it on top.
