Mashed Potato Casserole à la Julia

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g potatoes, floury
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 onions
  • 500 g mushrooms
  • 1 tsp marjoram, dried
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg, grated
  • 100 g cream cheese with herbs
  • 4 sprigs of parsley, finely chopped

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Wash and peel the potatoes and boil in a pot of salted water for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, peel and dice the onions. Wash and slice the mushrooms. Press the cooked potatoes through a potato ricer or mash them with a masher. Melt the butter, add the onions and mushrooms, and sauté for 5 minutes. Then add everything to the mashed potatoes, season with salt, marjoram, and nutmeg, and mix well. Transfer everything to a buttered baking dish, spread the cream cheese over the top, and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 25 minutes. Serve on plates and sprinkle with finely chopped parsley.
