Is Almond Butter Healthy?

On the one hand, sweet almonds are used to bake cakes and stollen, on the other hand they are used to make delicious almond butter. Almonds are one of the healthy foods due to the valuable ingredients and optimal composition of fatty acids. But is almond butter just as healthy?

Almonds are healthy

You can either buy almond butter or make it yourself. The basis is sweet almonds, which are blended in a blender until a mush is formed. This is available in white or brown color, depending on whether shelled or unshelled almonds were processed – whereby white mash is easier to digest and has a finer aroma, while brown mash is characterized by a strong taste.

Although sweet almonds contain plenty of calories, they also contain a number of important vitamins such as B1, B2, B6, niacin and vitamin E, which is essential as an antioxidant, as well as plenty of the minerals potassium (835 mg/100 g) and calcium (252 mg/100 g) and magnesium (170 mg/100 g) and iron (4.1 mg/100 g).

The high protein content is remarkable. There is also plenty of dietary fiber, which has a positive effect on digestion.

Almonds also contain valuable fats. The aspects mentioned make this a really healthy and nutritious one food – the same applies to almond butter.

Almond butter – nutritious and delicious

Since mush made from pure almonds is usually made without artificial additives, it can basically be described as healthy, but with the restriction that the mush contains a lot of calories at around 645 kcal/100 g and is also very high in fat.

But as we all know, fat is not just fat. Almond butter has an excellent fatty acid structure – mostly monounsaturated fatty acids, similar to olive oil, and a small proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids. These fatty acids can preventively counteract hardening of the arteries, dyslipidemia and cardiovascular diseases.

Enjoy the delicious almond butter on bread, as a refinement for desserts, sauces , dips and dressings – add it to a banana shake or smoothies and use it for delicious ice cream creations. However, be careful when consuming the amount as it is quite high in calories and fat.
