American Chili Cheese Fries

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 500 g minced beef
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 large onion(s), diced
  • 1 bell pepper(s), red, diced
  • 6 garlic cloves, pressed
  • 2 chili peppers (chipotle) ​​in adobo sauce, alternatively jalapenos, Tabasco Chipotle BBQ and chipotle seasoning
  • 1 tube(s) Tomato paste
  • 1 can of tomatoes, chopped
  • 500 ml beef broth
  • 1 can beans, black in chili sauce
  • 1 can kidney beans
  • 500 g French fries, fresh and hot
  • 150 g Cheddar cheese, grated
  • ½ cup crème fraîche

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 40 minutes

Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and stir. Season with salt, pepper, cumin, chili powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Stir and cook until the ground beef is dark brown, about 10-15 minutes. Add the onion, bell pepper, garlic, chipotle, and a pinch of salt. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 10 minutes. Add the tomato paste and cook until darkened, about 10 minutes. Add the chopped tomatoes, beef broth, black beans, and kidney beans. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat, and simmer for at least 30 minutes to 2 hours. Serve the chili over the fries on plates, sprinkle with cheddar cheese, and top each with a dollop of crème fraîche.
