simply delicious

Mix together the first 6 ingredients for the dough (vanilla paste can be used instead of vanilla pod). Peel the apples and dice them into approximately 1 x 1 cm cubes (Boskop apples are best, but other varieties will do). Carefully fold the apple cubes into the dough. With wet hands, form 9-12 balls and place them on a prepared baking sheet. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (top/bottom heat) for approximately 25 minutes. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar while still warm. They taste delicious even when slightly warm. They are perfect as finger food, travel snacks, or for a bake sale. The apple in the dough keeps the balls moist and fresh for a long time.
