Apple Meatballs with Onions and Mashed Potatoes

Apple meatballs

  • 500 g Mixed hack
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • Dried marjoram
  • Black pepper from the mill
  • Salt
  • 1 smaller Boskoop
  • Oil
  • Breadcrumbs

Onion vegetables

  • 4 Onions
  • 1 smaller Boskoop
  • Black pepper from the mill
  • Salt

Mashed potatoes

  • 500 g Potatoes
  • Milk
  • Butter
  • Nutmeg
  • Salt

Apple meatballs

  1. Finely dice the onion, sauté in a little oil until translucent and allow to cool. Put the minced meat in a bowl, add the breadcrumbs, the steamed onions, the egg and the mustard. Season with marjoram, salt and pepper and knead well to form a homogeneous dough.
  2. Shape the minced dough into 6 meatballs. Wash the boskop and core with a core cutter and cut into slices. Press one slice well onto a patty. Now heat a little oil in a pan and fry the meatballs over medium heat with the apple side first for about 4 minutes, then turn and fry the other side for about 4 minutes as well. Then keep the meatballs warm in the oven preheated to 100 degrees.

  1. Halve the onions and cut into slices. Quarter, peel and core the Boskoopf and then dice. Roast the apple and onion in the frying fat of the meatballs (add a little oil if necessary) and season with salt and pepper.

Mashed potatoes

  1. Peel and dice the potatoes and cook them in sufficiently salted water, drain them and let them steam out. Now put back on the stove and add a good dash of milk and then mash and finally stir in a trick of butter.
