Ingredients for 8 servings:
- 300 g flour
- 1 apple
- 3 tbsp oat flakes, wholegrain
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 100 g sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 125 g butter
- 1 tbsp beet syrup
- 1 egg(s)
- 3 tbsp milk for brushing
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes
Preheat oven to 220 degrees Celsius (425 degrees Fahrenheit). Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, vanilla sugar, and salt in a bowl. Crumble the butter and flour mixture with your fingertips. Peel and coarsely grate the apple. Add it to the flour mixture along with the oats, beetroot syrup, and egg. Knead briefly but thoroughly. Divide the dough into two equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Flatten the dough and cut each into 4 pieces. Brush the scones with milk and bake for 20 minutes until golden brown. Serve lukewarm.
