Working time approx. 50 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes
Mix the starch and baking powder and sift into a bowl. Add the flour, spices, salt, sugar, vanilla sugar, egg, and margarine and mix well. Knead on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Form the dough into two triangular logs (5 x 5 x 5 cm, about 12 cm long). Wrap in cling film and chill for about 30 minutes. Cut into approximately 4 mm thick slices using a serrated knife and place on baking sheets lined with baking paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 10-15 minutes. Place the baking sheets on wire racks and let the cookies cool for at least 5 minutes. Transfer the cookies, still on the paper, to the wire racks and let cool.
