Baked Mozzarella
The perfect baked mozzarella recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 2 piece Buffalo mozzarella balls
- 4 piece Bacon slices
- 10 size Basil leaves
- 1 Pkg. Danish pastry
- 1 Egg yolk
Prepare the mozzarella
- Cut the mozzarella balls in the middle and hollow them out with a small spoon – set aside
Prepare the filling compound
- Cut the mozzarella leftovers into small pieces – cut the bacon slices into small cubes – cut the basil into small strips – now mix everything together in a bowl – season with salt and pepper
Fill mozzarella ….
- Now fill the filling compound into the hollowed-out mozzarella balls and put the lid back on
wrap in the batter …
- Cut the Danish pastry into strips and place them in a star shape – place the mozzarella ball on top and fold the strips of dough upwards all around – brush the dough with whipped egg yolk and bake for about 15 minutes at 180 degrees
Side dishes
- I served the baked mozzarella balls with creamy tomato sauce (note in my cookbook) – sprinkle the mozzarella balls with basil strips when serving
Tip for next time …
- If necessary, bake the dough balls in muffin tins … this way they keep their shape better … the mozzarella melts a little while baking and sags a little in the dough
