Basil during pregnancy – no problem in moderation
Basil contains essential oils such as camphor, which in large amounts can cause uterine cramps and induce labor.
- You cannot reach the levels that are dangerous for your health with normal food intake. For this, you would have to consume larger amounts every day and over several months.
- There is therefore nothing to prevent the herb from continuing to be included in the diet.
- Basil is rich in minerals such as potassium, calcium, iron, and magnesium. It also contains all the B vitamins and vitamins A, C, D, and E. They are doing something good for your body.
- On the other hand, avoid sage, cinnamon, juniper, and aloe vera, as these can induce labor. You should be careful here, especially during a high-risk pregnancy.
