Beef strips with Guinness sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 600 g beef strips
  • some flour
  • 2 onions
  • ½ tsp mustard
  • ½ tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Parsley, chopped
  • Thyme, chopped
  • ½ bottle of beer (Guinness)
  • salt and pepper
  • 150 g mushrooms
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 55 minutes

Irish recipe

Season the meat with salt and pepper and toss with the flour. Heat the oil and brown the meat. Chop the onions and add them. Add the beer. Stir in the mustard, tomato paste, bay leaf, herbs, and sugar. Season with salt and pepper and simmer over medium heat for about 1.5 hours. Slice the mushrooms. Fry in the butter and season with salt and pepper. Add to the meat 5 minutes before the end of the cooking time.
