Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 60 g butter
  • 20 g yeast
  • 300 ml milk
  • 1 egg(s)

Instructions

Place 500g of flour in a bowl, add 1 teaspoon of sugar and 2 teaspoons of salt. Melt 60g of butter. Dissolve the yeast in the milk and add the melted butter, then add the whole mixture to the flour. Mix the flour with the liquid, starting in the center. Knead the dough well until smooth. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size. Shape the dough into two equal strands, slightly thicker in the middle, braid the loaf, and place on the prepared baking sheet. Beat 1 egg, mix the egg yolk with a little water, and brush the yolk over the loaf. Bake the loaf in the lower half of the preheated oven at 220°C for about 45 minutes. When tapped on the bottom, it should sound hollow.
