Beware Of Food Poisoning!

Warm weather can easily make eating a risk: animal products such as eggs, fish, and meat spoil very quickly in the heat. Learn how to protect yourself from food poisoning here.

When buying fish, pay attention to the refrigerated chain

If you buy fresh fish, be sure to transport it chilled. Corresponding tote bags are available in every supermarket. Store the fish in the refrigerator at the bottom of the glass shelf. In order to kill possible pathogens, it must be heated for at least ten minutes during preparation.

Always roast meat dishes well

Be careful with Mett rolls and tartare – from 20 degrees, many bacteria can hide on them. Therefore, it is better to avoid it in the warm season and only eat well-done meat. Put the mince from the fridge directly into the pan and eat it immediately after preparation.

Never leave egg dishes in the heat for long

For desserts, only use eggs that you bought no more than three days ago. Cold desserts made from raw eggs are highly sensitive to heat. Leave it on the table for no more than five minutes. Then immediately in the fridge.

Packaged mushrooms often rot imperceptibly

Do not buy mushrooms sealed in plastic. Because mushrooms and co. rot faster that way – which you often cannot see with the naked eye. This creates dangerous toxins.

Be careful with pre-packaged salads

Ready-made salads in shops and restaurants are often stored too warm and not washed properly. Then numerous dangerous bacteria can accumulate on them. It is therefore better to buy a whole salad and prepare it yourself. Additional tip: Dressings with vinegar kill most germs.

Recognize symptoms, act correctly

Abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting usually occur within one to two hours after eating contaminated food. You can do this yourself: When you have diarrhea, your body loses a lot of water and salt. Therefore you should drink a lot. Teas made from peppermint or chamomile, for example, are excellent. Also, take medicinal charcoal tablets from the pharmacy. These can bind germs that are in the body. Eat only when you have an appetite. It is best to eat carbohydrate-rich foods, such as toast. Probiotic yogurt will help relieve symptoms

However, if the symptoms persist for more than 48 hours, you should consult a doctor. In severe cases, high fever, chills, body aches, lessening of the urge to urinate, and even symptoms of paralysis can occur. Then get yourself taken to a clinic immediately. Because there is a risk of acute kidney failure and thus danger to life!
