Bifteki, Baked Potatoes and Beans in Tomato Sauce
The perfect bifteki, baked potatoes and beans in tomato sauce recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
Bifteki:
- 1 Bun old
- 1 medium sized Onion
- 1 tbsp Olive oil
- 300 g Ground beef
- 2 Egg yolk
- 0,5 bunch Fresh smooth parsley
- 1 pinch Mixed with cumin, allspice and oregano
- Pepper salt
- 100 g Feta cheese
Potatoes:
- 800 g Potatoes
- 0,5 small Lemon, juice
- 0,5 Cup Water
- 3 tbsp Olive oil
- 1 tbsp Paprika powder
- 1 bigger Clove of garlic
- 1 tsp Salt, possibly more
Bifteki:
- Soak the rolls in hot water. Peel the onion, dice very finely and sweat in the oil until translucent, allow to cool a little. Wash, dry and finely chop parsley. Cut the feta into thin slices.
- Put the meat in a bowl. Squeeze out the very swollen bun very well (it looks great between two boards) and add to the meat with onion, egg yolk, parsley and spices. Knead everything with your hands and season with salt and pepper.
- Cut a total of 7 equal portions of the meat with a tablespoon. Lightly plate each one in one hand, place some feta in the middle and surround it with the meat. So make them all. Then fry in a little neutral cooking oil all around until brown and inside. The feta should not come out.
Baked (Greek) potatoes:
- Preheat the oven to 200 ° O / bottom heat. Peel the potatoes and cut them into bite-sized, not too small pieces. Peel the garlic, chop very finely. Mix a marinade with lemon juice, water, olive oil, paprika, salt and garlic. Mix the potato pieces well with them, put everything in a baking dish and slide them into the oven on the 2nd rail from the top. The cooking time is 35 – 45 minutes. During this time, stir the potatoes every now and then. At the end of the cooking time, the liquid must have evaporated and a layer of the marinade must have built up around the potatoes. Test the cooking point of the potatoes as you would with boiled potatoes. Finally, add a little salt if necessary.
- When preparing bifteki and potatoes, first prepare the potatoes and put them in the oven. Your cooking time is completely sufficient for the preparation of the Bifteki. We had the Greek beans in tomato sauce and tzatziki as an additional side dish. (Tzatziki see link: Souvlaki from the grill)
- I have set the recipe separately for the typical Greek beans in tomato sauce as a side dish. Since they require a longer preparation time and can also be prepared very well in advance, I found a separate recipe more useful. (see link: Greek-style beans in tomato sauce
