How to Reduce Underarm Sweating: 7 Effective Ways

Excessive underarm sweating is a popular summer problem. Sweating is an important and beneficial function of the body that protects us from overheating. But for those with excessive sweating, knowing this fact does not reassure them.

Why Sweat Smells Bad

Sweat itself has no odor – it is caused by bacteria and microorganisms that multiply rapidly in sweat. The “Fauna” of each person is individual and depends largely on genetics, so some people are naturally odorless. Also, the smell of sweat is intensified by poor hygiene, drinking alcohol and spicy spices, as well as hormonal disorders.

Use an antiperspirant

Replace your usual deodorant with an antiperspirant. Such means not just disguising the bad smell of sweat, but fighting its cause by destroying bacteria.

Wear the right clothes

Clothing made of synthetic fibers produces heavier perspiration. Wear clothes made of breathable fabrics, like linen and cotton. Also, strange as it may seem, in summer it is better to wear clothes with long sleeves, for example, spacious shirts. In them, the fabric protects the hands from the sun, the body does not overheat, and you sweat less.

Have a checkup with your endocrinologist.

The reason for the strong smell of sweat can be an imbalance of hormones, as well as menopause in women. A consultation with an endocrinologist and a hormone test is never a waste of time.

Use Wet Wipes

If you sweat out of the house and do not have an opportunity to take a shower – use wet wipes. It’s better to choose antiseptic wipes, as they kill bacteria. You can also wipe your armpits with the antiseptic itself.

Reconsider your diet

Strong spices, garlic, and curry when digested release sulfur-containing gases, which are excreted through the pores. Therefore, for people with severe sweating is better to give up spices. Alcohol also makes you sweat faster.

Shower regularly

Take a shower once or twice a day. This is obvious advice, but very important. If you wash regularly, then the bacteria simply will not have time to multiply under the armpits in large numbers.

Surgical methods to solve the problem

The most radical way to combat sweating when nothing else helps is surgical methods. People with excessive sweating may be offered Botox injections. This injection blocks the sweat glands. The procedure is done under local anesthesia.
