To Come True: 12 Ways to Make a Wish for the New Year

The New Year is the most magical holiday. Even inveterate skeptics wait for it – we suspect that they, like others, make wishes. After all, it is proven that what is wished at this time always comes true.

Almost everyone knows how to make a wish on New Year’s Eve with champagne. It has been a New Year’s ritual for generations: we write a wish in a note to the chime of the clock, burn it, throw the ashes into the champagne, and have time to drink it. Let us admit that it is not very tasty, but it is fun. They say that if you make your wish come true, it means you can drink it.

In Spain, during the chime of the clock they eat 12 grapes and make a wish for each of them, and Germans climb on a chair and, having made a wish, jump into the reality of their dreams. But we know a few other ways from “practical magic” how to make a wish on New Year’s Eve to make it come true. The main thing is to think before you make a wish, and yes – “be afraid of your wishes, they tend to come true.”

How to make a wish for the New Year 2023 – 12 ways

  • A wish in a balloon

On New Year’s Eve write your wish on a piece of paper, roll it up into a tube, and place it in a Christmas tree ball. Then find a Christmas tree in the street, walk around it nine times, and then hang the toy with the wish as high as possible.

If an outdoor Christmas tree does not suit you for some reason – in case you will not understand it, while you will walk around it – put the ball on your home tree. In this case, hold it in your hands for 5 minutes every day, and after a week, take it off and hide it.

  • A note in a bottle

Suppose you drank the champagne with the ashes of your wish, the bottle remained. To fasten your wish, write a note and throw it into the bottle. Close it and hide it away until it comes true.

  • Wishes under a pillow.

If there are a lot of wishes, but each of them has the right to come true – again, write them in the notes. After that, you should fold everything, put them under a pillow, and go to bed. On the morning of January 1, you must take out only one: the things you wrote there will come true in the new year.

  • The Wish Jar

If you can’t decide on a wish – leave the choice to the universe. Write everything you wish on separate notes, and on December 31 take a normal jar (any liter) and put all the notes in it. You can also put there sweets, sprigs of fir trees, and confetti. Close the jar tightly. During a year, the wishes which were corked in a jar will come true. In fact, you also can check yourself when you open the jar.

  • Make a wish on oranges

Chinese ritual. Buy eight oranges, make a wish, and then, before entering the house, throw each orange over the threshold. After that, collect them, wash them, and give one orange each to your loved ones during the first seven days of the holiday. At the same time, wish them the fulfillment of their wishes. The last one, the eighth orange, must be eaten by yourself.

  • Magical Tangerines

You can make a wish on tangerines: write or stick notes on each one with what you want to take with you into the New Year – for example, “Health”, “Peace”, “Love”, “Happiness”, etc. One tangerine is one wish. Now all the tangerines should be eaten, and better – to share with your loved ones.

There is another sign: the minute before the chime of the clock you need to peel the tangerine and put it under the tree. If you manage to do this, you will have a happy year.

  • Tangerines again, but with a bone.

How to make a wish on New Year’s Eve to get pregnant? If you wish to become pregnant, not only should you peel and eat a tangerine but if there is a bone in it, your wish will come true.

  • The wish-coin

If you do not know how to make a wish for New Year’s Eve, there is one more way with champagne. It is necessary during the chime of the clock to hold in your fist a yellow coin, then lower it into a glass with champagne and drink it. It is desirable to spit out the coin and carry it with you throughout the year. They say the shallower the coin, the greater will be the profit.

  • A wish on soda

This formula has a smell of confectionery, but only at first sight. In fact, it is a way to get rid of debts in the new year. The day before you should write all your debts on a piece of paper – the more exact the better – then pour the baking soda on this piece of paper and put vinegar on it. That’s it – no debts, you’ve paid them off.

  • On a fir branch

On New Year’s Eve, take a branch from a Christmas tree, whisper your wish to it, and put it in the water near your bed. Then check how it will come true: in three days, count how many needles fell off. If you wish you will make the wish come true at once, if the number is even, you will have to wait for it.

  • Make a wish on the fire of Bengal

Here’s how to make a wish for New Year’s Eve by the chime, if you haven’t prepared at all. Take a Bengal flame, light it with the first beat of the clock, and make a wish. The burned fire must be kept until the wish comes true.

It is possible, by the way, to make a wish and be convinced of its fulfillment almost immediately. If after the 12th beat of the clock, a man will call you, it means that your wish shall come true and if a woman, it won’t.

  • Make a wish on a Christmas tree No.2.

If you were not able to make a wish on New Year’s Eve, do not worry. You can do it when you take the tree apart. Hold the last toy from the tree in your hands and make a wish. They say it will come true quickly.

  • A wish on a Christmas toy #2

If you couldn’t make a wish on New Year’s Eve, don’t feel bad. You can do it when you take the tree apart. Hold the last toy from the tree in your hands and make a wish. They say it will come true quickly.

This year we have one wish for everyone. And may it come true no matter how we make it. After all, if millions of people ask for it, magic is bound to happen.
