What Can Replace the Conditioner for Laundry: 5 Proven Options

Laundry conditioner is a product used by many housewives. Thanks to it things smell nice and become softer to the touch. However, there are situations when such a miracle liquid is not at hand, and you do not want to use things that are unpleasant to the body.

What to add when rinsing laundry instead of conditioner

There is a whole list of folk remedies, which can be used in the absence of a special liquid for washing clothes. Such natural conditioners for laundry can be made from ordinary household products, which are in the kitchen cabinet of any Ukrainian.

Soda

This component has emollient and cleansing properties, so it will be perfect as an alternative to the conditioner. You need to take 100 ml of water and dilute 1.5 tsp of baking soda in them, and add a few drops of essential oil. Many people like this option because of the long-lasting effect – the fragrance stays on your clothes for up to 6 days.

Vinegar

Sometimes housewives add vinegar while washing laundry if they need to get rid of old stains or soften the fabric. In order to get fragrant and clean laundry in addition to these bonuses, add 50-100 ml of vinegar and a few drops of lavender or peppermint essential oil to the conditioner compartment. If desired, you can run the process of rinsing things repeatedly to make the smell less pronounced.

Hair Balm

If you bought a beauty product that doesn’t suit your hair type, don’t rush to throw it away – use it for washing. Pour 20 ml of balm, 20 ml of vinegar, and 30 ml of water into the conditioner compartment. Mix the solution, pour it into the machine, and turn it on.

Ammonia

Another proven remedy from our grandmothers – they soaked the laundry in a solution of ammonia to soften the fabric. Add 1 tsp. of ammonia to each liter of water and soak the items in this solution. Then it is important to wash, rinse and air them thoroughly. A few drops of essential oil can be added while washing so that the smell of ammonia goes away faster.

Salt

The principle of this method is the same as that of baking soda – if you do not need to get rid of the bad smell of clothes, but only need to make them soft. While washing, pour 1-2 tsp. of salt and a few drops of essential oil into the powder compartment. With salt, you can soften even thick terry towels, bathrobes, and other “heavy” things.
