What remedy helps with clogged pipes

You can find special products with which to “breakthrough” the drains in the departments with household chemicals. They are sold as powder, pellets, or liquid.

One popular product is “KROT. This name has become a common noun, and many brands produce products with this or similar names. This is usually the name given to products containing caustic soda (caustic soda, NaOH).

Using a purchased remedy for cleaning pipes should be strict as written in the instructions. Making a remedy for clogs in the sink can also be done at home.

To make such a remedy at home, you need to mix calcined soda (lye), and slaked lime powder. They can be found in a hardware store.

Soda and lime must be taken in equal parts, diluted with water at a ratio of 1:1:2.5 (for example, 200 grams of soda and lime, 500 milliliters of water). The remedy should be stirred with a wooden spoon or spatula (never with aluminum).

To use the remedy, it is recommended to heat it in an enameled dish. It is also possible to evaporate water from the remedy in the same dish so that it is easier to store it in a dry state.

Important: just boiled water can be poured only into a metal pipe. In plastic pipes – not hotter than 80 degrees Celsius.

What can replace “KROT”

  • baking soda;
  • vinegar;
  • Citric acid;
