The following method is one of the most popular ways to sterilize glass jars. All you need is a large pot and water.

• First, fill a large saucepan with water.
• Now open your glasses and put them in the water. The lids of the jars should also be placed in the pot.
• Make sure that the glasses are completely in the water.
• Then set the stove to the highest level and let the water in the pot boil.
• As soon as the water boils, the glasses should be boiled in it for about 10 minutes.
• After that, you should fill the glasses as soon as possible.

Sterilize glasses using the dishwasher

You can also sterilize your glasses in the dishwasher. You mustn’t add any dishwashing detergent or other additives.

• To do this, put the jars and lids in the dishwasher.
• It is important that there are no other dishes in the dishwasher.
• Now set your dishwasher to the hottest setting and start it.
• The jars should also be filled as quickly as possible after this boiling method.
• This method is ideal if you have a lot of jars that you want to boil.

Boil jars in the microwave

Not only in the pot but also in the microwave can help when boiling glasses. Here, however, you do not put the glasses in a water bath, but the water in the glasses.

• First fill your glasses with water and put them in the microwave.
• Now set your microwave to 600 watts and wait until the water in the glasses starts to boil.
• Once the water is boiling, you should set the microwave timer for about a minute.
• The jars are then fully boiled, but still very hot. Therefore, they should only be taken out with baking gloves.
