Ingredients for 6 servings:
- 1 head of white cabbage
- 1 onion(s)
- 3 tbsp orange juice
- 2 tbsp crème fraîche, or sour cream
- some caraway
- some oil
- 200 ml broth
- salt and pepper
- 1 tbsp sugar
Instructions
Working time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes
seasoned with crème fraîche and orange juice
Remove any wilted leaves from the white cabbage, quarter the cabbage, remove the stalk, and cut into strips. Dice the onion. Heat a little oil in a pan, sauté the finely chopped onion, and add the cabbage. Sauté until lightly browned, about 5-7 minutes depending on the heat. Deglaze with stock and simmer, stirring occasionally. Add sugar, pepper, salt, and caraway seeds, along with the orange juice. I simply added 2-3 shots. After about 20-25 minutes, season to taste with crème fraîche or sour cream and the remaining spices, if desired. Garnish with crème fraîche toppings, and serve. We served it with meatballs, potatoes, and a dark sauce. It’s a great dish for the season and inexpensive.
