  • 1 white cabbage
  • 5 tbsp butter (alternatively margarine or olive oil)
  • 4 tbsp syrup
  • ½ liter meat broth or vegetable broth
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Swedish-style white cabbage

Preheat the oven to 200°C. Trim the white cabbage and cut into strips. Briefly fry it with butter in a large pan. Then transfer it to an ovenproof dish. Season with salt and pepper, and gradually stir in the syrup. Then add the broth. Place in the preheated oven and cook for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve hot. Brunkål (brown cabbage) is originally an integral part of the Swedish Christmas buffet (Julbordet). It is similar to Bavarian cabbage and is therefore also ideal as a side dish for other dishes.
