Bratwurst from the oven

Spread the love

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 6 bratwursts (Thuringian-style roasted sausages)
  • 6 small shallots
  • 400 g tomatoes
  • 1 red bell pepper(s)
  • 1 bell pepper(s), yellow
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 garlic clove(s)
  • 1 tbsp marjoram, fresh, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • some salt
  • some black pepper, ground

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

for the pre- and post-grilling season

First, preheat the oven to 200°C. Clean the bell peppers and remove the white membranes, then cut into bite-sized pieces. Wash the tomatoes, remove the blossom end, then quarter or eighth if necessary, depending on the size of the tomatoes. Peel the shallots and garlic, and finely dice the shallots. Heat the oil in a large pan, sauté the diced shallots, and press in the garlic. Add the tomatoes and bell peppers, along with the marjoram and bay leaves. Transfer the mixture to an ovenproof dish and place the sausages on top. Drizzle the sausages with a little oil from the vegetable mixture, season with salt and pepper. Bake in the preheated oven for about 50 minutes, turning occasionally. Serve the oven-baked sausages with French fries or freshly baked white bread. A green salad also goes well with the dish, as does a cold beer.
