Bread and cherry cake

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 jar of morello cherries (680 g content)
  • 150 g black bread, stale
  • 4 eggs
  • 150 g sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Butter and breadcrumbs for the mold
  • Powdered sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 50 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

Drain the cherries. Crumble the brown bread. Butter a loaf pan and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Preheat oven to 180°C (top/bottom heat). Beat the eggs and sugar until frothy. Fold in the cinnamon and crumbled breadcrumbs. Pour the batter into the pan and arrange the cherries on top. Bake the cake in the hot oven on the middle rack for about 50 minutes. Then let the finished cake stand in the pan for 10 minutes, remove it from the pan, and let it cool completely on a baking sheet. Finally, sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired.
