Grandma’s bread soup

Finely dice the bacon and onion. First, fry the bacon in a pan, then add the onion and brown it until crisp. Cut the bread into cubes and place it in a pot. Add the bacon and onion, season generously with pepper, then pour over the boiling water. Cover the pot and let the soup simmer for about 10 minutes. Season with salt. If you’ve used boiling water from boiled potatoes to make the soup, be careful with the salt!
