Are Brown Spots in Peppers Harmful to Health?

Spread the love

I bought an organic pepper today and it looked pristine on the outside. However, when I cut it open, I discovered brown spots on the inside. What can it be and can I still eat the peppers or do I have to throw them away?

The brown spots inside the peppers can have various causes. A “remote diagnosis” is unfortunately not possible for us.

Dried, brownish kernels, for example, are not a problem. These underdeveloped, dead seeds can be found in peppers without mold or pests playing a role.

Small brown spots can be removed generously. If the fruit no longer gives the impression of being fresh, if there are soft, mushy areas, large areas of discoloration or if you discover mold, we advise you not to eat the peppers as a precaution.
