Brussels sprouts braised in a wok

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 750 g Brussels sprouts
  • 2 slices of cooked ham
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 4 tbsp rapeseed oil
  • 4 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

Wash the Brussels sprouts, thoroughly remove the outer leaves and stalks, and halve the florets; you should have at least 500g of cleaned Brussels sprouts left. Dice the onion, garlic cloves, and ham. Heat the oil thoroughly in a wok (or a frying pan instead of a wok). First, add the halved florets and simmer for about 2 minutes, stirring. Ensure that all the florets come into contact with the oil. Then add the onion, garlic, and ham and simmer briefly again, stirring. Add water. After a few minutes, season with salt and pepper and stir again. Depending on your taste, you can either serve the Brussels sprouts now (fairly firm to the bite) or simmer for a little longer so the florets soften. Tastes delicious with mashed potatoes.
