Cabbage and potatoes from the oven

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 m.-large white cabbage
  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 200g bacon
  • 2 tbsp oil, neutral
  • Caraway seeds
  • Paprika powder, I use Pimenton de la Vera here
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

Spicy and warming

Remove the outer leaves and stalk from the cabbage and cut the cabbage into bite-sized pieces. Boil in salted water for 5-10 minutes until soft. Peel the potatoes and cut them into bite-sized cubes. Boil in salted water for 10 minutes. Drain both and place them in the oven roasting pan. Finely chop the bacon and add it. Add the oil and season generously with salt, pepper, paprika, and caraway. Mix thoroughly with your hands, if desired. Season to taste and adjust the seasoning if desired. Place in the oven at 200°C for about 30 minutes until golden brown. A simple and inexpensive autumn and winter dish that tastes great on its own. If you like, you can also serve it with Mettwurst or Wienerle.
