Cabbage Steak with Lemon-thyme-mashed Potatoes

The perfect cabbage steak with lemon-thyme-mashed potatoes recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 kg Fresh white cabbage
  • 50 ml Olive oil
  • 10 Branches Thyme
  • 0,5 tsp Sweet paprika
  • 0,5 tsp Ground caraway
  • 1 Tl Roasted and ground sesame seeds
  • 0,5 tsp Chili salt
  • 800 g Potatoes
  • 1 Lemon
  • 50 ml Oat milk
  • 2 tsp Vegetable margarine
  1. Peel the potatoes, chop them roughly and bring to the boil in salted water.
  1. Cut the cabbage into thin (about 1 cm) slices. Mix the marinade with olive oil, spices, salt and about half of the thyme that has been pulled off.
  1. Brush the cabbage slices generously with it. Braise on a baking sheet in the oven for about 30 minutes at 200ºC.
  1. Drain the potatoes. Pour in the margarine, lemon juice, remaining thyme and oat milk and mash. Serve with vegan brown sauce or vegan bechamel.
