Candied lemons – the ingredients for the recipe
Three ingredients are enough to preserve the fresh aroma of the lemon:
- 1kg lemons with the thickest possible peel in organic quality
- 400 grams of sugar
- 500ml water
Preparation of candied lemons
The preparation takes some time, but is not complicated:
- Slice the lemons with a sharp knife. If you prefer candied lemon zest, cut the zest from the fruit and remove the white skin.
- Boil the water and sugar in a large saucepan for about five minutes.
- Add the lemon pieces to the syrup and simmer over low heat for two hours.
- Remove the lemons and let them dry on a wire rack overnight.
- Roll the candied and dried lemons in sugar.
Candied lemons with chocolate
Candied lemons taste great on their own or covered in chocolate.
- Melt dark or milk chocolate to taste in a water bath.
- Dip the candied lemons in the chocolate and let them dry.
- After about two hours, the chocolate lemons are ready.
