Candiing Ginger – That’s How It Works

How to candy ginger

  • First, peel about 500 grams of fresh ginger and cut it into small pieces.
  • Now boil the sliced ginger in water for about ten minutes.
  • Now it’s time to candy: take the pre-cooked ginger and mix it with a liter of water, four cups of cane sugar, and a pinch of salt.
  • Cook over medium-high heat until all the water has evaporated. You can now turn the candied ginger pieces into sugar and the practical and healthy snack is ready.

Candied Ginger: Healthy travel snack

  • We explain why ginger is so healthy in a separate article.
  • Candling not only preserves ginger, but it also makes it easy to take with you in your pocket. You should always carry some sweet snacks with you, especially when traveling.
  • If you suffer from travel sickness, candied ginger helps quickly, naturally, and reliably. Travel sickness is caused by the simultaneous release of the messenger substances serotonin and dopamine in the body.
  • If you chew a piece of candied ginger every half hour, the gingerol it contains blocks serotonin receptors in the stomach and intestines, thus counteracting nausea.
