Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 2 slices of sandwich toast
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 4 slice(s) of tomato(s)
  • 1 ball of mozzarella
  • some oregano, shredded
  • 4 basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper, black, from the mill

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Ingredients for 4 pieces

Toast the sandwich slices. Using a small glass, cut out 4 slices from the bread slices. Spread the oil on the slices and season with salt. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius (400 degrees Fahrenheit) top heat/grill. Place a small tomato slice on each slice and season with pepper. Slice the mozzarella, use the same glass to cut out 4 slices, and place them on the tomatoes. Sprinkle each slice with a little oregano and place on a baking rack. Bake in the upper third of the oven for about 5 minutes, until the mozzarella begins to melt. Arrange the slices on a platter and garnish each with a basil leaf while still warm. Perfect as a snack or as an appetizer.
