Cherry dumplings

Spread the love

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 500 g flour, sifted
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 100 g butter, soft
  • 100 ml sunflower oil
  • 150 g skimmed milk
  • 100 g sugar
  • 1 can of cherries, preferably amarena cherries
  • 8 tbsp milk for brushing

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

Combine the first 6 ingredients and knead until well combined. Form the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, preferably cling film, and refrigerate for about 20 minutes. Once the dough is thoroughly chilled, roll it out and cut out circles (this works well with a glass). Brush the dough circles with milk and place 2-3 cherries inside each one, fold it over, brush with milk again, and press the edges shut with a fork like you would with ravioli. Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C for about 20 minutes. Tip: Don’t throw away the cherry juice! Once the parcels are ready, you can mix the powdered sugar and cherry juice together and brush the parcels with it, possibly sprinkling them with sugar.
