Chickpea Burger

The perfect chickpea burger recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 4 Discs Toast
  • 1 Can Chickpeas
  • 1 size Onion
  • 3 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 bunch Parsley
  • 1 tbsp Flour
  • 1 tsp Ground coriander
  • 1 tsp Sweet paprika powder
  • 100 g Natural yoghurt
  • Salt
  • 4 Lettuce leaves
  1. Soak the toast in lukewarm water.
  2. Rinse and mash the chickpeas.
  3. Finely chop the onion, wash and also chop the parsley. Sauté both in 1 tbsp oil while stirring for 2-3 minutes. Squeeze out the toastbroat and add to the chickpeas with the onion mixture, egg and flour. Season to taste with the paprika, coriander and salt and knead vigorously.
  4. Divide into four portions and shape each into a flat burger. Fry in the remaining oil over medium heat for about 5 minutes on each side.
  5. Mix the yoghurt, sambal oelek and salt.
  6. Bake the buns, wash the tomatoes and cut into thin slices. Cover the lower bun halves with lettuce and tomato slices, spread the burger on top and garnish with the yogurt. Put on the lid. I served it with simple fried potatoes.
