Christmas Mini Pies

The perfect christmas mini pies recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

Dough (is also suitable for vegan preparation):

  • 300 g Flour
  • 200 g Butter / vegan butter
  • 100 g Sugar
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 2 tbsp Water cold
  • 1 Pc. Egg

Filling:

  • 120 g Currants
  • 40 g Chopped orange peel
  • 40 g Chopped almonds
  • 60 g Brown sugar
  • 70 ml Brandy
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 60 g Butter / vegan butter
  • 0,5 Pc. Grated apple
  1. Put the flour, sugar and salt in a food processor, sprinkle the butter over it as cubes. Mix everything together to form a crumbly dough. If the crumbs don’t hold together when you squeeze them with your thumb and forefinger, add some cold water. Place on a floured worktop. Halve the dough, shape each into a dough ball, press flat and wrap in cling film and cool for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In the meantime, prepare the filling. To do this, simmer all the ingredients in a saucepan for 15 minutes, until the fruits are soaked and soft. Let cool down.
  3. Roll out the first half of the dough thinly and use it to cut out the desired shape – for example a circle, tree, star. Brush the edge with a beaten egg or maple syrup, put a heaping teaspoon of the filling on each dish.
  4. Cut out 15 identical shapes from the second half of the dough and cut out small mini-shapes from the center. The shapes are placed on top of the filling. Press the edges all around with a fork, brush with the remaining egg or maple syrup and bake in a preheated oven at 190 degrees Celsius for 20 minutes.
