Cold red cabbage salad

Spread the love

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 1 head of red cabbage
  • 1 m.-sized apple
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 tsp butter
  • Vinegar
  • Salt
  • Sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Quarter the red cabbage, remove the stalk, and cut the cabbage into strips about 3-4 cm long and 1 cm wide. Add it to a pot of water and boil for about 20 minutes, until tender (careful: it should still have some bite, otherwise the salad will quickly become mushy). While the red cabbage is cooking, dice the onion and apple. Drain the cabbage well, then return it to the pot while it’s still hot. Add the diced onion and apple and the butter, season with salt, sugar, and vinegar, and let cool.
