Cooking Spinach – That’s How it Works

Spinach is a healthy vegetable with many important ingredients. So that you can also enjoy it, you should pay attention to a few things when cooking. You can find out more in our article.

How to properly cook spinach

  • Before cooking, you should first remove the sand and soil from the spinach. This is best done under cold water.
  • Place the picked spinach leaves in a large colander or colander, then rinse with cold water.
  • It is better to use only your hand to clean so that the spinach leaves are not damaged.
  • After cleaning, put a pot of salted water on and bring it to a boil.
  • Once the water is boiling you can add the spinach and cook for about 5 minutes.
  • If you want to serve the spinach whole, you can just blanch it briefly and then finely chop it.

Optional: Make creamed spinach from the spinach

If you want to make your own creamed spinach, it’s not difficult at all:

  • After cooking, drain the spinach in a colander and then return it to the pot.
  • Now you can season the spinach. We recommend salt, pepper, nutmeg, and possibly some garlic. Also, add a generous dash of heavy cream.
  • If you are vegan, then soy cream is also ideal for this.
  • At this point, you can either puree the spinach or put it all in a blender and chop it up. And you already have homemade creamed spinach.

Preserve creamed spinach

You can also easily make the creamed spinach in advance. To do this, simply make a larger batch and then put everything in a bag. You can then easily freeze this bag.
