Corn on the cob in the oven

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 corn cobs
  • 50 g herb butter
  • Salt and pepper from the mill

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Preheat oven to 220°C fan/convection oven. Remove the leaves from the corn cobs, trim off some of the stalks, and if necessary, the tips as well. (Alternatively, sweetcorn pods are usually available pre-hulled in packs of two at the supermarket. This eliminates the need to remove the leaves.) Then wash and dry the corn cobs. Rub the corn cobs with the herb butter, then season with salt and pepper. If you want to protect your oven, wrap the corn cobs individually in aluminum foil. This not only makes them easier to handle, but also keeps the herb butter where it should be. Bake in the hot oven for 20 minutes; 30 minutes isn’t a bad idea either. In my experience, freshly hulled corn cobs require more cooking time than pre-packaged corn cobs. In any case, this way the corn cobs cook evenly, and you don’t have to turn them.
