Couscous as a side dish

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 cup couscous
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tomato(s)
  • some butter
  • some salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 12 minutes

lightning fast, delicious

This is the quickest side dish I know: Boil the water. Add the couscous, stir, and turn off the heat. Cut the tomato into small cubes. The couscous will have swelled during this time; it cooks very quickly. Fluff it with a fork, add butter, and season with salt. Finally, fold in the tomatoes. You can vary the couscous in many ways: with parsley, paprika, or even without any other ingredients… nuts, sesame seeds, etc. It’s a great substitute for rice, but it cooks much faster.
