Creamed kohlrabi

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 3 kohlrabi, fresh
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 2 tsp vegetable broth, instant
  • 150 ml sweet cream
  • Salt and pepper, white from the mill
  • Nutmeg, freshly grated

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Peel the kohlrabi and cut into sticks. Boil in lightly salted water for about 20 minutes. Drain and reserve 250 ml of the cooking water. Lightly fry the kohlrabi in the butter and sprinkle with flour. Sauté lightly and deglaze with the cooking water and cream. Stir in the vegetable stock and simmer for 2 minutes. Season to taste with salt, white pepper, and nutmeg, if desired. Delicious with meatballs and mashed potatoes.
