Currywurst with Homemade Sauce
The perfect currywurst with homemade sauce recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 2 Sunflower oil
- 3 tbsp Brewed sausages approx. 300 g
- 1 tbsp Rapeseed oil
- 100 g Tomato paste
- 200 ml Orange juice
- 200 ml Coke
- 200 ml Tomatoes finely chopped (can)
- 3 Star anise
- 3 tbsp Mild curry powder
- 2 tbsp Brown sugar
- 1 tsp Cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp Chilli flakes
- 1 tsp Grained vegetable broth
- 4 tbsp Milk
- 2 Stalks of parsley for garnish
- Bagutte or rolls
- Wash sausages, pat dry with kitchen paper, cut into pieces approx. 2 cm long and fry in a coated pan with sunflower oil (2 tbsp) on both sides until golden-brown. Heat the rapeseed oil (1 tbsp) in a pan, add the tomato paste (100 g) and fry for about 1 – 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add the mild curry powder (3 tablespoons), cayenne pepper (1 teaspoon) and chilli flakes (1 teaspoon) and stir-fry briefly. Deglaze / pour in the orange juice (200 ml), Coca Cola (2 00 ml) and the finely chopped tomatoes (200 ml). Add brown sugar (2 tablespoons), star anise (3 pieces) and grained vegetable stock (1 teaspoon) and simmer / reduce everything for about 10 minutes. Stir every now and then. Finally remove the star anise and refine it a little with milk (4 tbsp). Divide the sausage slices on 2 plates, pour the sauce over them and serve garnished with parsley. Baguette or bread rolls are enough.
