Sauce for Currywurst

The perfect sauce for currywurst recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 Fresh onion
  • 1 Apple Elstar
  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 3 tbsp Tomato ketchup
  • 150 ml Instant broth
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 0,5 tsp Pimenton de la vera
  • 1 Pr Cayenne pepper
  • 2 tsp Peanut oil
  • 1 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Yellow curry powder
  1. Cut the onion, tomatoes and apple into small cubes.
  1. Put the oil in a saucepan and heat.
  1. Add onion, tomato and apple cubes and let fry.
  1. Add the tomato paste and let it roast.
  1. Add the ketchup and deglaze with the hot stock. It is not worth making an extra broth for this amount, so I use the “good” instant broth 😉
  1. Add the salt, sugar, the smoked paprika and the cayenne and simmer gently. The sauce should reduce a bit.
  1. When the sauce has the desired consistency, remove it from the heat and add a tablespoon of curry powder and mix.
  1. I use the sauce for currywurst, but it also tastes cold and warm with grilled dishes
