Doctors Have Named Three Foods for Excellent Vision

At least that’s what some doctors think. Maintaining healthy eyesight requires a little more than regular checkups – what you eat can have a positive impact on your vision.

At least that’s what some doctors believe. In particular, in their opinion, the following foods should be added to your meals.

Dark leafy greens

Dark leafy greens contain lutein and zeaxanthin, two carotenoids that help fight cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. Spinach, kale, and collard greens are excellent sources. To get started, replace romaine with spinach in salads and add greens to your meals.

Sweet potatoes

Sweet potatoes (along with pumpkin and melon) contain many carotenoids that act as precursors to vitamin A, a nutrient essential for normal vision and retinal function.

Simple and healthy substitution- try sweet potatoes instead of white potatoes.

Egg

Just one egg a day will increase your lutein and zeaxanthin levels, and provide you with sulfur compounds that can help prevent cataract formation.

Choose cage-free eggs fortified with omega-3s, which contain higher levels of DHA, another nutrient that is good for the eyes. If you don’t like eggs for breakfast, add a hard-boiled egg to a salad for lunch or dinner.
