Ingredients for 6 servings:
- 500 g minced meat, mixed
- 200 g bacon, smoked and diced
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 1 bell pepper(s), green, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, chopped or squeezed
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp thyme, dried
- some caraway
- some paprika powder, sweet or hot
- 1 small white cabbage, chopped into bite-sized pieces
- 400 g tomatoes, chunky, with juice, from the can
- ½ tsp sugar
- 400 g tomato sauce for pizza, seasoned, homemade
- 1 tbsp oil
- 200 g sour cream

a recipe for the crockpot (slow cooker)
This recipe is designed for a 6.5 L slow cooker/CrockPot (CP). First, grease the crockpot insert with a little oil. Fry the ground beef in a separate pan until crumbly. Add the onion and bacon, sauté briefly, and then add everything to the CP. Then layer the bell peppers, garlic, salt, pepper, any other spices, thyme, and finally the cabbage. The CP should now be almost completely full. Now add the chopped pizza tomatoes to the cabbage. Mix the pizza sauce with the sugar and pour this over the dish. Cover. Cooking time: Approx. 8 hours on “low” (lowest, but not warming) or 4 hours on “high” (highest). Stir everything well, season to taste, and serve with sour cream. Note: Cooking time depends heavily on the appliance.
