Eat White Sausage: What You Should Consider When Preparing and Cutting

Before eating: prepare white sausages properly

Ideally, you buy white sausages from the butcher. But you can also buy white sausages in the supermarket or online. But before you can enjoy the sausage, it has to be properly prepared.

  • First of all, it is important to note that white sausages are not cooked – otherwise they could burst. The butcher has already pre-cooked them. Similar to Wiener, the sausages are only heated.
  • First, bring a pot of water to a boil and then turn the temperature down. It is not necessary to add salt.
  • As soon as the water stops boiling, add the veal sausages and close the lid.
  • Leave the sausages in the hot water for about 15 minutes.

Chopping white sausage: This is how the Bavarian method works

In Bavaria, it is sometimes customary to seal the Weißwurst. The sausage is eaten with the hands and sucked out of the skin.

  • Before you cut the sausage, it has to be dunked in the sweet Händlmaier mustard.
  • Now put the sausage in your mouth and carefully pull the inside of the white sausage out of the intestines with your teeth. Be careful not to bite off the sausage.
  • Also, don’t forget to serve pretzels to go with the Weißwurst.
  • Finally, the gut remains. Even if you can eat it without hesitation, it will not be eaten when you eat it.
