Erika’s Fried Hungarian Liver / Chicken Liver

  • 500 g Chicken liver
  • 2 piece Fresh onion
  • 2 piece Clove of garlic
  • 1 Knife point Cayenne pepper
  • Pepper from the grinder
  • Salt
  • Oil

  1. A very traditional Hungarian dish for us, easy and quick to prepare but very tasty. As a non-offal lover, I was convinced of this family recipe by my wife.

  1. Wash the liver pieces and remove excess fat. Peel, halve and slice the onion, peel the garlic.

  1. Heat the oil in a pan, roast the onions until golden brown.
  2. Sear the liver pieces and squeeze in the garlic, stir well.
  3. Pepper and reduce the heat. Simmer for about 15 minutes on medium heat.
  4. Finally, season with salt (otherwise the liver will become hard). Possibly add a little water for more gravy.

Serving suggestion

  1. Serve with boiled potatoes and pickles.
